Getting Started With the eTrex SE or eTrex Solar

If you are setting up an eTrex® SE or eTrex® Solar outdoor handheld for the first time, the following steps will walk you through the process to help you get the most out of your new Garmin.

Setting up the eTrex

When power on the Garmin for the first time, you will be prompted to configure some settings.

1. Insert two AA batteries (only required for eTrex SE).

   NOTE: The eTrex SE is pictured below, but the button layout and functions are the same on the eTrex Solar.

   

   	POWER Press and hold to turn the device on. While powered on, quickly press to turn the backlight on or off. Press and hold to open the power menu.
   	UP Press to scroll through menus, options, and settings.
   	DOWN Press to scroll through menus, options, and settings.
   	OK Press to choose an option or open the menu for a page. Hold to save your current location as a waypoint
   	BACK Press to return to the previous page. Hold to view the glance loop.

3. Choose your language by scrolling through the list using and buttons, press OK to select a language.

4. Pair your eTrex with your phone.
