Lane Departure Warning System on a Garmin Speak Plus

Important:  The Garmin Speak™ app can no longer be installed and has been replaced by the Garmin Drive™ App. To download the Garmin Drive app, visit Google Play for Android or App Store for Apple.

Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) provides an alert when you may be unintentionally traveling across a boundary line on the road.

LDWS relies on the camera to provide warnings for lane markers and, as a result, may have limited functionality in low visibility conditions, poorly marked roads, roads covered with salt/sand, and roads with moderate to sharp curves.

The system will alert you when crossing over a solid line. An alert will not occur when crossing over dashed lines.

Additional Notes on LDWS:

  • LDWS will function the same regardless of which side of the road you drive on in your region

  • The vehicle must be traveling at or above 40 mph (64 km/h) for alerts to be active

  • LDWS will sound an audible alert

For best LDWS performance, ensure the Camera Placement setting on the main page of the Garmin Drive App is accurate.

To Change the Camera Placement Setting in the Garmin Drive App:

  1. Touch the Settings icon

  2. Touch Garmin Speak

  3. Touch Camera

To Disable the Lane Departure Warning System:
