Create a Route From a Track Using BaseCamp on Windows

BaseCamp™ software can be used to create a route based on a track from your device. This works for tracks in the "Where I've Been" app on devices. Some devices also have a "Tracks" app, which will work as well.


To Add the Track to My Collection:

1. Open BaseCamp™ software

2. Connect your Garmin device

3. Right-click on Internal Storage or All Data

4. Click Send To

5. Click on My Collection

6. Click OK



To Create the Route From the Track:

1. Right-click the desired track in the Library

2. Click Create Route from Selected Track

If necessary, the number of waypoints in the Route can be limited in the Device Transfer section of the Options menu

  • Devices that use Trip Planner or Route Planner will only accept 30 via points. Older devices that use the standard Routes tool will only accept routes with a maximum of 200 via points.

The route will now appear on the map as well as in My Collection.


To Transfer the Route to Your Device:

1. Right-click on the desired route in the Library

Select route

2. Click Send To

Send to menu

3. Click Internal Storage

Select Destination menu

4. Click OK

This will transfer the route to the device.
