Issues When Pairing BMW Motorrad Navigator V or VI with Bluetooth Phone or Bluetooth Headset

If you experience any pairing or connectivity issues with the BMW Navigator V or VI, headset, and/or mobile phone, please follow the troubleshooting steps below in the following order:

  1. Pair headset to the audio system
  2. Software Update
  3. Remove pairings
  4. Pair Headset first
  5. Initiate pairing from the phone
  6. Pair BMW Navigator from the phone

Pair headset to the audio system

The headset requires pairing with the audio system if you have a 2014 and newer BMW R 1200 RT, K 1600 GT, or K 1600 GTL motorcycle with the factory GPS preparation kit and an audio system installed.  See Pairing Bluetooth Phone or Headset with BMW Motorrad Navigator V or VI for instructions.

Note: When connected to the factory-installed mount, the media player on the Navigator V is disabled. Media will need to be played through the audio system via another source (e.g. radio, iPod, SiriusXM).

Software Update

Verify the BMW Navigator V or VI is running the latest software version and the Bluetooth firmware is up-to-date. See Updating Maps and Software with Garmin Express

Note: It is recommended for your mobile phone and headset to have the latest software as well. Consult your owner's manual for guidance on how to update your phone or headset.

Clear pairing history

Clearing the pairing history on the device, headset, and the phone will establish a new Bluetooth session.

To remove the pairings on the BMW Navigator V or VI:

1. Touch Settings

2. Touch Bluetooth

3. Touch the device you wish to remove

    • The device name will vary
