Create a route from a track in MapSource
There are many 3rd party programs and web applications that create GPX files that can be opened in MapSource® mapping software. Most of these applications will save route data that shows in MapSource software as a track instead of a route.
To create a route from a track in MapSource software:
- Open the GPX file in MapSource software
- Select the Tracks tab
- Select the track so that it shows up in yellow on the map
- Select the Route Tool
- Click the starting point of the track
- Follow the track clicking at key points such as intersections so that the route takes the shape of the track
- When finished click Transfer
- Select Send to Device to send the route to the GPS device
Once sent to the GPS device, the new route can be used to provide turn by turn directions to your destination.
Unless this procedure is carried out, nüvi®, LIVE, StreetPilot® or zūmo® GPS navigators will not be able to read the tracks.
