(2011) Service Advisory 1014 Rev A: G500 and G600 Systems PFD WPT Identifier

PRODUCTS AFFECTED

All G500 and G600 Systems interfaced with:

  • GPS 400W/GNC 420W/GNS 430W/GPS 500W/GNS 530W Units with Software Version 4.00 or earlier, or
  • GTN 625/GTN 635/GTN 650/GTN 725/GTN 750 Units with Software Version 2.00

DESCRIPTION

Garmin has identified an issue with data displayed in the WPT field, located on the upper left of the PFD. In certain cases, the WPT Identifier may incorrectly display the previous waypoint rather than the current TO waypoint. This issue will only occur on “Course from fix to distance”, “Course from fix to DME
distance”, or “Fix to Altitude” flight plan legs, as defined in the GNS 400W / 500W Pilot’s Guide. (Refer to the 400W Series Pilot’s Guide, Garmin PN 190-00356-00 or the 500W Series Pilot’s Guide, Garmin PN 190-00357-00, for further information.) Distance and track information is correctly presented for the waypoint ahead of the aircraft. Note: CDI guidance is unaffected.

PILOT ACTION

Pilots should be aware of the condition noted above. If uncertain what the active waypoint is, the pilot should refer to the flight plan page on the GTN or GNS navigator.

RESOLUTION

This issue will be corrected in a future release of the 400W / 500W Series software and also in a future release of the GTN 6XX/7XX software.
