Connections Cannot See My Steps or Activity Distance on the Leaderboard

The connections leaderboard keeps a weekly total of your steps or distance, so you can see how you measure up with your friends. If you see a lock icon on the Connections Leaderboard instead of your step or distance total, you will need to change the privacy settings using one of the platforms below:


Garmin Connect App

  1. Open the Garmin Connect app.

  2. Open the Menu.

    • Android: Select 3 vertically stacked lines (top left).

    • iOS: Select More (bottom right).

  3. Select Settings.

  4. Select Profile & Privacy.

  5. Select Steps.

  6. Set to My Connections, My Groups and Connections, or Everyone.

  7. Go back to the Profile & Privacy page.

  8. To get Swimming, Running, or Cycling Distance data onto the Connections Leaderboard Select Activities.

  9. Set to My Connections, My Groups and Connections, or Everyone.

  10. Select Update Past Activities.

After your next sync your connections should be able to see your step count and activity distance on the Leaderboard.


Garmin Connect Web

  1. Sign into Garmin Connect from a personal computer.

  2. Select Profile & Account (top right).

  3. Select Account Settings.

  4. Select Privacy Settings.

  5. Set Steps to My Connections, My Groups and Connections, or Everyone.

  6. To get Swimming, Running, or Cycling Distance data onto the Connections Leaderboard you will also need to change the privacy for Activities.

  7. Set privacy for Activities to My Connections, My Groups and Connections, or Everyone

    • Select Custom if you would like to have different privacy settings for each activity profile.

  8. Select Update Past Activities so that your previous data gets added to the leaderboard and current challenges.

After your next sync your connections should be able to see your step count and activity distance on the Leaderboard.
