Charging the inReach Messenger Series

NOTE: To prevent corrosion, thoroughly dry the USB port, the weather cap, and the surrounding area before charging or connecting to a computer. The device does not charge when it is outside the approved temperature range (0° to 45°C or 32° to 113°F).

Charging the inReach® Messenger or inReach Messenger Plus Satellite Communicator

  1. Lift the weather cap figure one.

  2. Plug the small end of the power cable into the charging port figure two on the device.

  3. Plug the other end of the power cable into a compatible AC power adapter.

  4. Plug the AC power adapter into a standard wall outlet.

  5. Charge the device completely.


Saving Energy While Charging the Device

  1. Connect your device to an external power source.

  2. Hold the power button until the screen turns off.

    The device goes into a low power, battery charging mode, and the battery gauge appears.

  3. Charge the device completely.


Battery and Charging Specifications

  • The inReach Messenger and inReach Messenger Plus do not require much voltage for power. Charging can be done using any commercially available adapter that charges USB devices.

  • A typical wall adapter with a USB Type A interface will have a 1-3 amp output.

  • The inReach Messenger and inReach Messenger Plus will charge at a limit of less than 1 amp, regardless of the adapter. The charging adapter will supply whatever voltage is requested of it from the device.

    NOTE: inReach device batteries are not removable or replaceable.

  • Battery Specifications: 1 battery, 1 cell, 1800 mAh at 3.8V
