Requesting Weather Forecasts With an inReach Messenger

The inReach® Messenger satellite communicator is able to request Basic, Extended, or Marine weather forecasts for viewing on the inReach device. This article will cover how to request weather forecasts from the inReach device only. Important Notes

• Updating a forecast may incur data charges or additional usage charges.

• For more information about Basic, Extended, and Marine weather, see - Frequently Asked Questions on Weather for inReach.

• A marine forecast will be included for locations on an ocean or other large body of water, if available. If you are unable to get a marine forecast, select a location further from shore.

Requesting a Weather Forecast

1. From the home screen, press or  to scroll through the main menu.

2. Select WEATHER .

3. Press OK

4. Select Update Forecast.

5. Select Basic, Extended, Marine + Basic, or Marine + Extended for the forecast type.

6. Press OK to get new forecast, then select Continue.

The inReach device will then send a request for the forecast. It can take several minutes to receive the weather forecast data. Ensure you have a clear view of the sky. Once the inReach receives the forecast, you can view the forecast at any time until all the information in the forecast has expired. The forecast can also be updated at any time.

Changing the Weather Location

NOTE: These steps will only work if the Garmin Messenger app has already been used to add other weather locations. For more details, see - Requesting Weather Forecasts With the Garmin Messenger App .

1. From the home screen, press or  to scroll through the main menu.

2. Select WEATHER .

3. Press OK.

4. Select Change Location.

5. Select an option: 

   • My Location: Sets the forecast to your current location.

   • Select one of the weather locations that you have used previously (if applicable).
