Sending an inReach Message with an Android Device

The Earthmate app can be paired and used with an inReach device to send messages to phone numbers and email addresses saved as contacts in the phone, synced from explore.garmin.com, or manually entered in Earthmate. Use the instructions below to to create and send a message.

IMPORTANT

The Earthmate Android app must be paired to an inReach device to send a message. Follow the instructions in the  Related FAQ's  for your inReach unit to pair the Earthmate app to the inReach device.

1. Open the Earthmate app
   
   
   
2. Select the Message icon
   Note: This icon can also be selected on the Messages page under Menu
   
   
   
3. Type a contact name in the To field
   
   
   

   OR
   
   Tap the Contact icon to open the phone contact list and select a contact
   

   
   
   OR
   
   Manually enter an email or mobile phone number
   
   
   
4. Repeat step 3 for each additional contact to be added to the message. Separate each additional contact with a comma. 
   
   
5. Touch the Type Message field, and enter a message
   
   Note: Use the Lightning Bolt icon to Quick Message. Use the Location icon to toggle on or off including your location. Messages are limited to 160 characters.
   
   
6. Touch Send
   
   
   
7. The message will then be sent through the paired inReach device
