How Do I Install Garmin Express Software?

Garmin Express™ software is designed to manage Garmin devices. It is used for device registration, syncing Fitness data with Garmin Connect, map updates and software updates, and much more.

For map and software update instructions: Go to Garmin Support Center, enter your product name, select Software from the tabs on the left.

NOTE: Garmin Express software is not compatible with Linux operating systems, tablets or phones and must be used with a computer that features a USB port for a data cable or ANT+ stick to communicate. Installing Garmin Express:

Choose the operating system below for instructions on installing Garmin Express:

NOTE: Garmin Express automatically uses the default language of the computer on which it is installed.

Windows

Current Version of Garmin Express for Windows: 7.25.0 as of March 25, 2025.

  1. Go to the Garmin Express webpage.

    • Before installing, verify your computer meets the system requirements. 

  2. Select Download for Windows (pictured below).

  3. Run the downloaded GarminExpress.exe or GarminExpressInstaller.exe file when it appears.

    • If you do not see the .exe download file, you may see a download in progress iconDownload In Progress Chrome appear on the top right of the address bar. Once the download completes, the download tray will appear to click on and run the .exe file.

  2. Review the terms and conditions, then select the checkbox.

  3. Select Install.

  4. Once the installation is complete, select Launch Garmin Express.

Mac

Current Version of Garmin Express for Mac: 7.25.0 as of March 25, 2025.

  1. Go to the Garmin Express webpage.

    • Before installing, verify your computer meets the system requirements. 

  2. Select Download for Mac (Pictured below).

  3. Open the GarminExpress.dmg or GarminExpressInstaller.dmg file

  4. In the new window, double click on the Install Garmin Express icon.

  5. Select Continue or Allow.

  6. Select Continue again.

  7. Select Continue again.

  8. Review the terms and conditions, then select Agree.

  9. Select Install.

  10. Enter your Mac User Name and Password and click Install Software. See Installation of Garmin Applications on a Mac Prompts for a Password for assistance.

  11. Once the installation is complete, select Close. Your Applications folder will automatically open.

  12. Double click on the Garmin Express icon in the Applications folder.

NOTE: Garmin Express is designed to run natively on Intel-based Mac computers. If you are installing Garmin Express on an Apple silicon-based Mac, you may be prompted to install Rosetta if you do not already have it. For any issues installing Rosetta, please contact Apple support.
