Pairing the GPSMAP® 86i and GPSMAP® 86sci to a Garmin® Marine Device
The GPSMAP® 86 series devices are able to pair with a Garmin® chartplotter to receive information like water depth, navigation heading, or wind data through the Boat Data App, have autopilot controls through the Autopilot App, or for inReach usage.
To Pair a GPSMAP 86 Series Device with a Garmin Chartplotter for Boat Data or Autopilot Controls
From the chartplotter:
Select Settings
Select Communications
Select Wireless Devices
Select Connect IQ Apps
Select Boat Data or Autopilot
Select Enable Connections
Select New Connection
From the GPSMAP 86 series device:
Press the Menu button twice to access the Main Menu
Select Connect IQ
Select Boat Data or Autopilot
Keep GPSMAP 86 close to chartplotter until pairing is complete
To Pair a GPSMAP® 86i or GPSMAP 86sci to a Garmin Chartplotter for inReach use
On the chartplotter, set up the Wi-Fi name and password; for instructions, see the chartplotters owner's manual
On the GPSMAP 86i/86sci, press the Menu button twice to access the Main Menu
Select Setup
Select Wi-Fi
Select the name of the chartplotter network
Select Connect
Enter password
Return to the GPSMAP 86i / 86sci Menu
Select Setup
Select Sensors
Select inReach Remote
NOTE: If logged in to ActiveCaptain®, a prompt will appear on the mobile device asking to disable Smart Notifications. Select Agree. The device can only have one connection or the other.
Pairing to a GHC™ 20
The GPS® 86 can also be connected to the GHC 20 for Autopilot controls directly.
On the GHC 20 select Menu
Select Setup
Select Remote
Select Search for Remote
On the GPSMAP 86 select Connect IQ
Select Autopilot
Select Menu again
Select the pairing option and follow the on screen instructions to finalize pairing
