Exporting GPS Data from Video Clips in Garmin Dash Cam Player
Note: New downloads of Garmin's Dash Cam Player software have been discontinued. This means that Garmin no longer offers a desktop application that supports the management of your device's video files; however, many common third-party programs exist which can fulfill this purpose. Some are usually built into the computer (such as Windows Media Player and QuickTime) and others (such as VLC Media Player) can be found online.
The Garmin Dash Cam Player has the ability to export GPS data from a video clip recorded by your Garmin Dash Cam 20 or 35, dezlCam, Garmin DriveAssist 50, or nuviCam device. This data can be opened in other applications, such as Garmin BaseCamp, to view detailed information about the speed, location, time, and route taken during a particular video clip.
To export GPS data from a video clip in the Garmin Dash Cam Player:
- Import a video file from a Garmin device
- See Related Content for instructions
- Select the video file under the Saved, Unsaved, or Date columns
- Select File
- Select Export Record as GPX
- Select a folder or other location on your computer to save the exported data to
- Click OK
The data will now be saved as a .GPX file and can be found in the folder or location that was selected in Step 5 above.
Note: You may not be able to export GPX data from videos without the Garmin Dash Cam Player. Some third-party programs may have this ability. Please contact the program manufacturer for support.
