Yard Moves Duty Status and Yard Move Exemption in the Garmin eLog app
The Yard Moves Duty Status:
The Yard Moves status can be enabled or disabled per each individual driver profile. See Editing a Driver Profile for instructions.
Yard Move Exemption:
In addition, the administrator has an option to enable or disable a Yard Move Exemption with the Garmin eLog™ Compliant ELD software version 4.80 or higher.
Refer to FMCSA's definition of Yard Move Exemption. The Garmin eLog ELD/eLog™ app does not support "the vehicle exits a geo-fenced motor carrier facility.
When enabled, this setting allows drivers to stay in Yard Move status even after the vehicle's engine has been turned off and restarted. It also changes a driver's status from "Yard Moves" to "Driving" automatically whenever the vehicle exceeds 20 miles per hour.
To Enable or Disable the Yard Move Exemption:
- Log in to the administrator profile
- Touch Settings
- Touch the slider next to Yard Move Exemption to enable or disable it
The exemption will now be active or inactive for all drivers.
Yard Move Suggestion:
With the latest Garmin eLog software version installed, the eLog app will suggest a Yard Move Status correction if you drive for under 3 minutes and under 20mph.
- Log into the Garmin eLog App
- Cannot be in Yard Move or any other status that does not allow automatic driving to start
- Start driving
- Drive for under 3 minutes and under 20mph
- Stop and change the status
You will now be prompted with the Yard Moves Suggestion screen.
