Yard Moves Duty Status and Yard Move Exemption in the Garmin eLog app

The Yard Moves Duty Status:

The Yard Moves status can be enabled or disabled per each individual driver profile. See Editing a Driver Profile for instructions.

Yard Move Exemption:

In addition, the administrator has an option to enable or disable a Yard Move Exemption with the Garmin eLog™ Compliant ELD software version 4.80 or higher.

Refer to FMCSA's definition of Yard Move Exemption. The Garmin eLog ELD/eLog™ app does not support "the vehicle exits a geo-fenced motor carrier facility.

When enabled, this setting allows drivers to stay in Yard Move status even after the vehicle's engine has been turned off and restarted. It also changes a driver's status from "Yard Moves" to "Driving" automatically whenever the vehicle exceeds 20 miles per hour.

To Enable or Disable the Yard Move Exemption:

  1. Log in to the administrator profile
  2. Touch Settings
  3. Touch the slider next to Yard Move Exemption to enable or disable it

The exemption will now be active or inactive for all drivers.
