Why a zumo 660 or zumo 665 Device Isn't Charging

Garmin's zumo models will only charge when certain conditions are met.

  • When connected to a motorcycle mount, the zumo will only charge if it is powered on. If the zumo is in sleep/standby mode (if available) or powered off, then the device will not charge.
  • When a zumo is on the automotive mount and is connected to the proper vehicle power cable the zumo will charge regardless of whether it is on, off, or in sleep/standby mode (for those models that have this feature).
  • The zumo should charge at all times when connected to a computer via a USB cable as long as the USB cable is plugged directly into the device
    • Plugging the USB cable into the mount will not charge the zumo

Temperature and exposure to sunlight can also prevent battery charging. If the zumo gets too warm or too cold, the battery will no longer charge as a means of preventing overheating.
