With an active subscription, the inReach® account owner can send a message to, start tracking, locate, or send a location to the inReach device all from the Garmin Explore™ website.
If you are not the account owner, similar controls can be found on the user's MapShare™ page. For more information, see - Using Visitor Controls When Viewing a MapShare.

IMPORTANT: To use the remote Tracking or Location features, you must first consent to the use of MapShare page. This can be done from explore.garmin.com under the MAPSHARE page by clicking the 'I consent to the use of MapShare' box. For more details on setting up MapShare for Tracking, see Related .
When the following controls are used, the inReach device needs to be powered on with a clear view of the sky to start tracking, return location requests, or receive locations and messages.
Sign in at explore.garmin.com.
Go to MAP.
NOTE: On mobile browsers, select
in the top left, then MAP.
Select
to the right of the account name in the left panel.
NOTE: If you do not see this option on mobile browsers, touch
from the left-center of the screen to open the side panel.
Select an option.
Track: A User Tracking box will appear. Click the dropdown and choose a tracking interval, then select OK.
For more information about inReach Tracking, see - Track Settings Explained on Garmin inReach Handhelds.
Locate: A Request Location box will appear. Select Request.
Making multiple location requests will not speed up the process and may cause further requests to be unsuccessful. Before the inReach device will respond to the location request with its current location, the inReach device needs to perform a mail check. See Related for more information.
For more information about location requests, see - Sending, Cancelling and Deleting a Location Request for inReach.
Message: A Send Message box will appear. Compose a message, then select Send.
Send: Enter coordinates in the Lat and Lon fields or select a location on the map by clicking on it. Compose a message (optional), then select Send.
