Creating a Waypoint With Coordinates in BaseCamp

If you are heading on a trip, or an adventure into the wilderness, you may have coordinates for certain locations. Coordinates can be used to create waypoints in BaseCamp™ software to help you better prepare.  


Select your operating system below for detailed instructions.

Windows
  1. Select Find from top toolbar
  2. Select Locate Coordinates. This will display coordinates for where the map is currently centered
  3. Change the position/grid if needed1
  4. Click in Center At field
  5. Input desired coordinates, making sure to enter decimals appropriately
  6. Click Recenter to ensure coordinates pull up the correct location
  7. Click Create Waypoint to save the entered coordinates as a waypoint

You can now find the new waypoint in My Collection from the left-hand column.

1To change the format/grid, click Edit to change it for BaseCamp software as a whole, or click Select a Grid to change it for the coordinate search only.


Mac
  1. Select Find from top toolbar
  2. Select Locate Coordinates
  3. Click in Enter Coordinates field
  4. Input desired coordinates, making sure to enter decimals appropriately
  5. Click Show on Map to ensure coordinates pull up the correct location
  6. Click Create Waypoint At to save the entered coordinates as a waypoint
  7. Click the red X to close the waypoint window

You can now find the new waypoint in My Collection from the left-hand column.
