Panoptix and Livescope Transducer Comparison

To compare various models of Panoptix and LiveScope transducers, as well as what sonar views they offer, choose a generation of transducer below. Garmin's transducer page can be used to determine compatibility by filter tools on the webpage's left side. 


1st Gen Panoptix

Transducer Models: PS30 & PS31: 

These transducers provide a LiveVu sonar image with the traditional sonar feel to the imaging and 3-D views.

LiveVu Down:  Provides real-time moving sonar images. You can see fish swimming toward or away from the boat. You can see small bait fish and large target fish swimming around, as well as your lure.

RealVu 3-D Down:  Allows your boat to remain stationary and still see things in 3-D around your boat. It shows history of only one sweep.

RealVu 3-D Historical:  Used for finding fish while your boat is moving. This shows the entire water column you have passed over in 3-D, from the bottom surface and all of the fish in between.

PS31

LiveVu Forward:  Updates the entire view with a single ping and has more of a "live video" look, providing real-time, moving sonar images. You can see fish swimming toward or away from the boat. You can see small bait fish and large target fish swimming around as well as your lure as you reel it in.

RealVu 3-D:  Updates a slice of the 3-D volume with each ping and takes 1 to 4 seconds to update the entire volume. It shows the bottom and fish in the water column coming toward the boat. It sweeps forward and then history on the screen is only one sweep.

2nd Gen Panoptix

Transducer Models: PS21, PS22, PS51, & PS60

These transducers support a slimmer profile compared to the first generation and provide alternate mounting options such as thru-hull options (PS-51, PS-60). These transducers provide a LiveVu sonar image with the traditional sonar feel to the imaging and 3-D views depending on model.

FrontVu Forward: Forward looking sonar helps you avoid running aground by displaying the bottom ahead of your boat in real time on your chartplotter.

LiveVu Down: Provides real-time moving sonar images. You can see fish swimming toward or away from the boat. You can see small bait fish and large target fish swimming around as well as your lure.

LVS32 (Trolling Motor or Transom Mounted; Only Connect to GLS 10; thru-hull transducer model also available)

Supports a larger scope of view using a 20-degree horizontal and 135-degree vertical beam.

LiveScope Forward:  LiveScope Forward mode is an excellent tool for scouting and fishing out ahead of your cast. You're looking at live, highly detailed and easy-to-interpret scanning sonar images of structure and fish swimming all around your boat, up to 200 feet, even while your boat is stationary.

LiveScope Down:  LiveScope Down mode allows you to see live, easy-to-interpret scanning sonar images of structure and swimming fish in incredible detail below your boat, up to 200 feet, even while your boat is stationary.

Perspective Mode: With the Perspective Mode Mount, Perspective Mode allows you to get an overhead sonar view that's perfect for scouting and fishing in shallow water.

LVS12

Uses a smaller scope of view compared to the LVS32. 30-degree horizontal and 30-degree vertical beam.

LiveScope Forward: LiveScope Forward mode is an excellent tool for scouting and fishing out ahead of your cast. You're looking at live, highly detailed and easy-to-interpret scanning sonar images of structure and fish swimming all around your boat, up to 200 feet, even while your boat is stationary.

LiveScope Down:  LiveScope Down mode allows you to see live, easy-to-interpret scanning sonar images of structure and swimming fish in incredible detail below your boat, up to 200 feet, even while your boat is stationary.
