Routes Not Following Roads or Trails on GPSMAP 66i/67i/86i/86sci or Montana 700i/710i/750i/760i
The GPSMAP 66i/67i/86i/86sci and Montana 700i/710i/750i/760i handhelds have several different routing options available.
While the TopoActive mapping that these devices come with will provide road and trail navigation when routing it set to Hiking or Cycling, it will only give straight as-the-crow-flies navigation when routing is set for Automobile or Motorcycle Driving.1 Steps for changing the routing can be found below.
Changing the Routing Setting to Follow Roads or Trails for TopoActive Mapping
- Access the Main Menu.
- GPSMAP 66i/86i/86sci users: Press Menu twice
- Montana 700i/710i/750i/760i users: Select
- Select Setup.
- Select Routing.
- Select Activity.
NOTE: If Activity is not an option, set Direct Routing to No - Select an activity that allows for road and trail auto-routing navigation.
NOTE: If navigating a Course, set Course Navigation to Roads & Trails
Your Routing is now saved to the selected setting. The handheld should now navigate on available roads and trails.
1The TopoActive mapping is based on OSM (OpenStreetMaps) that have not been verified as safe for driving purposes.
