GHP Class B Drive Making Noise

GHP 12 Class B drive:

The Class B drive has an external hydraulic tank and pump. If the Class B drive is making a squealing noise when it is retracted or extended

  • Hydraulics actuators can make sounds when not bled properly. It is common for the systems to have some noise when it is new.

  • The Class B drive does make some noise going in one direction, especially when new, as the fluid in general needs to run through the unit.

  • Initial use will move the hydraulic fluid through the system.

  • If it is really loud, take the drive off the rudder pin end (takes the load off the drive) and run the drive back and forth in verified steering direction ten times, full port to starboard. Then re-attach the drive and run the dockside and sea trial.
