Selling or Transferring Ownership of Your Garmin Watch

There are situations that require you to remove your registered watch from your Garmin Connect™ account, such as returning the watch to the store, transferring ownership, or removing an old device no longer being used. For information on transferring your watch ownership, continue to the Transferring Ownership  section below.

Removing a Device 

Choose an option below to reveal instructions on how to remove your watch.


Garmin Connect App

  1. Open the Garmin Connect app on your phone.

  2. Access the menu by selecting More (bottom right).

  3. Select Garmin Devices.

  4. Select the wearable to be removed.

  5. Tap on Three Dot.

  6. Tap on Remove Device.

  7. Tap on Remove.


Garmin Connect Web

  1. From a web browser, sign in to your Garmin Connect account.

  2. Select Devices & Sync Status (top right).

  3. Click on the name of the wearable to be removed.

  4. Select the gear icon Gear icon(top right).

  5. Select Remove.

  6. Confirm by selecting Remove.


Garmin Express Program

  1. OpenGarmin Express on the computer.

  2. Click on the watch from the devices shown.

  3. Select Tools & Content.

  4. Select Utilities.

  5. Select Remove Device.

  6. Select Remove.


Transferring Ownership

Once you have removed your device from your Garmin account, we recommend resetting your watch before transferring ownership. This will clear your personal information and settings, and allow the new owner to start using the wearable as if it is a new device. For steps on resetting your device, refer to your owner's manual.
