How to Reset an Approach G30

There are two resets available for the Approach® G30 handheld when not functioning properly. A forced restart is suggested when the Approach handheld is unresponsive or will not power on or off. A master reset is suggested for problems with satellite reception, general functionality issues, or restoring factory default settings (all user information, with the exception of saved scorecards, will be erased with a master reset).

Forced Restart Steps

  1. Press and hold the Power button.

  2. Wait up to 30 seconds until the device powers on/off.

  3. Release the Power button.

The Approach handheld should now function properly. If the device is still unresponsive, connect the handheld to the computer and then follow the above steps again.

Master Reset Steps

  1. Power off the Approach handheld.

  2. Power on Approach handheld.

  3. Wait for text to appear at bottom of display.

  4. Press and hold on the upper left corner of the display.

  5. Release the display when it says "Do you really want to erase all user data?".

  6. Touch Yes.

The Approach G30 handheld should now be reset to default factory settings and should function as expected. Leave the device outside with a clear view of the sky for up to 20 minutes to acquire satellite data.
