Total Mileage Shown from a Destination Appears Inaccurate
When you search for a destination (including saved places, recent places, POIs, addresses, and coordinates) before calculating a route, the Garmin device may appear to show the incorrect mileage to that destination.
However, the different distance shown is the total distance from your current position to that destination in a geographical straight line, or "as the crow flies." This is not the same as the mileage of the route that the device ultimately calculates since you have not yet selected a specific route.
To Find out the Total Mileage for a Route:
- Touch Where To?
- Select the location you'd like to navigate to
- Touch Go!
- Access the Trip Data by touching the data field that displays Speed
The Trip Data will display on the right side of the map screen.
If the Distance isn't Listed, Select One of the Data Fields to Change to Distance.
- Enter your product name in Garmin Support Center
- Click on the Search for a solution...
- Type and search for "Customizing the Trip Data Fields on the Map Screen for an Automotive Device"
- Follow the steps to change the data field
