inReach Messages Not Received After Uninstalling Garmin Messenger

When you first set up the Garmin Messenger™ app, you are prompted to verify your mobile phone number on the mobile phone that will be used. From that point on, any inReach® messages sent to your phone number will be routed to the Garmin Messenger app instead of your phone's default text messaging app.

If you decide to stop using the Garmin Messenger app and wish to go back to receiving inReach messages through your phone's default text messaging app, you will need to remove your phone number in the Garmin Messenger app using the steps below:

  1. Reinstall the Garmin Messenger app and follow the prompts to verify your phone number again.

  2. Select the profile icon or Gear Symbol in the top left.

  3. Select Accounts.

  4. Select Manage Garmin Messenger Account.

  5. Select Delete Garmin Messenger Account.

  6. Select Delete Account.

Once these steps have been completed, the Garmin Messenger app can be uninstalled. Future inReach messages sent to your phone number will be received in your phone's default text messaging app.
