Source of Weather Data Displayed in Activities on Garmin Connect

When viewing an activity in the Garmin Connect™ app or website, the weather data captured at the start of the activity will appear on the activity details page. Weather information is collected from the closest official weather station at the start of the activity. For most locations the weather data will be from a local airport.

The activity may only display certain weather information if the weather station cannot provide all weather data. If an activity has no weather data at all, it can mean no weather information was available for that location when starting the activity.

How Is the Temperature Graph Different Than the Weather Data?

Many Garmin® devices have a barometric altimeter sensor built in that can detect and collect temperature data when recording an activity. Watches worn on a wrist or Edge® cycling computers mounted on the bike can be exposed to external factors such as body heat, direct sunlight, or hot pavement which contribute to elevated temperature readings that are recorded during the activity. You can use an optional Garmin tempe™ external temperature sensor to record this data if your device supports it. Refer to your owner's manual to determine if it is supported. The tempe unit can be placed in a location that shields some of the external factors described above.
