GPS Interruptions on Android Devices
Most GPS interruption trouble is caused by battery-saving settings. The battery saving settings can force quit the GPS connection at any time, which means the Navionics® Boating app cannot continue to record your activity.
Having trouble with your GPS connection and tracking? Try the following tips:
- Ensure you are using the latest version of the Navionics app and your Android operating system.
- Verify the Navionics app as a "protected app" in your phone settings and disable or ignore any energy optimizations or battery-saving modes. (fig. a - NOTE: Not all device settings are the same.)
- To prevent a lock of the Navionics track recording within the Boating app, do the following:
- Tap Menu
- Scroll down and tap Settings
- Enable Screen On
Leaving the screen on for the duration of the recording may also prevent the device from shutting the GPS off. (fig. b)
