GPS Interruptions on Android Devices

Most GPS interruption trouble is caused by battery-saving settings. The battery saving settings can force quit the GPS connection at any time, which means the Navionics® Boating app cannot continue to record your activity.

Having trouble with your GPS connection and tracking? Try the following tips:

  1. Ensure you are using the latest version of the Navionics app and your Android operating system.
  2. Verify the Navionics app as a "protected app" in your phone settings and disable or ignore any energy optimizations or battery-saving modes. (fig. a - NOTE: Not all device settings are the same.)
  3. To prevent a lock of the Navionics track recording within the Boating app, do the following:
    1. Tap Menu
    2. Scroll down and tap Settings
    3. Enable Screen On

Leaving the screen on for the duration of the recording may also prevent the device from shutting the GPS off. (fig. b)
