Smart Notifications on the Tread and zūmo XT2 Devices

Smart Notifications will display notifications from your Android or iOS device on your automotive device so they can be read or heard safely without having to reach for your phone. The 25 most recent notifications from your phone will be stored on your Garmin device.

The phone must have the Tread® App installed to connect to your device and use this feature.

To use This Feature With Apple iOS:

Note: For Apple iOS, no configuration is needed for Smart Notifications in the Tread App. The smart notifications sent to the device are configured in your iPhone’s settings > Notifications. If the notification is enabled at all on your phone, it will be sent to the device.

To use This Feature With Android:

Enabling Smart Notifications within the Tread App

1. Open the Tread App on your phone

2. Touch the three lines in the upper left-hand corner of the app

3. Touch the gear icon to open settings

4. Touch Smart Notifications

5. Touch Set Notification Permissions

  • Skip this step if the smart notification permissions have already been set.

6. Select which applications can send notifications to your device

7. Return to the Tread App and select which app categories can send notifications to your device

You will now be able to view or listen to notifications from your phone on your device.
