Using Voice Command on a BC 40 Wireless Backup Camera

The Voice Command feature can be used to control the BC 40 wireless backup camera by voice.  Select your device below for instructions.

To Enable or Disable the Backup Camera Video Feed: 

On the Where To? Screen: 

  1. Power the device on and pair with the BC 40 
  2. Say Show Video or Voice Command, then Show Video
    • Say Hide Video to hide the backup camera video feed

On the Map Screen:

  1. Power the device on and pair with the BC 40 
  2. Say Show Video or Voice Command, then Show Video
    • Say Hide Video to hide the backup camera video feed

Note: The Show Video command works once each time after View Map is selected.  Any following commands while on the map screen must be spoken in the below order.

  1. Say Voice Command
  2. Say Show Video

To Enable or Disable the Backup Camera Video Feed:

  1. Power the device on and pair with the BC 40 
  2. Say Show Video, or OK Garmin, Show Video, or touch the Backup Camera icon to show backup camera video feed
    • Say Hide Video or touch the reverse arrow to hide backup camera video feed

Note: OK Garmin cannot be used while the backup camera video feed is on the screen.  OK Garmin can be used once the video is dismissed with Hide Video.

Power the device on and pair with the BC 40.

  • Say OK Garmin, Show Video 
  • Say OK Garmin, Hide Video 

Additional OK Garmin commands can be used while the video feed is displayed

   

NOTE: Upon starting the GPS while paired to a compatible backup camera, there is an initial video feed shown during startup. This feed will go away on its own when detecting forward motion of the vehicle, or by manually pressing the back arrow in the lower left-hand corner of the GPS screen. After this initial camera feed is gone, voice command can be used to show or hide video, or any other desired commands. While the initial video feed is present on the GPS, voice command is not usable for any verbal commands at that time.
