I Am Getting a Memory Full Message on My Forerunner 45

If you are receiving a message on your Forerunner® 45 that shows “Memory Full Delete History” the watch has reached its limit for storing saved activity files. If you see this message, you can delete the activity history from the watch or the TEMP folder from your device on a personal computer by following the steps below. This will provide the space needed on the device to update your watch and continue to record activities.

Clear Activity History From the Watch

NOTE: This will delete all saved activities from the watch. It is recommended to sync to your Garmin Connect™ account prior to clearing the activity history.

  1. Hold the UP Button.

  2. Select History.

  3. Select Options.

  4. Select Delete All Activities.

  5. Select Yes.


Windows Instructions

  1. Plug the watch into the computer using the supplied power/data cable.

  2. On your keyboard, press Windows key + E.

  3. Select This PC (Windows 10 only).

  4. Open the Garmin device drive.

  5. Open the Garmin folder.

  6. Locate the Temp folder and right-click on it.

  7. Select Delete.

  8. Disconnect the watch from the computer.

  9. Reconnect the watch to the computer and use the Garmin Express™ program to update the software.


Mac Instructions

  1. Plug the device into the computer.

  2. Open Finder.

  3. Select Go in the menu bar.

  4. Select Computer.

  5. Open the Garmin device drive.

  6. Open the Garmin folder.

  7. Locate the Temp folder and drag it to the Trash.

  8. Empty the Trash.

  9. Disconnect the watch from the computer.

  10. Reconnect the watch to the computer and use the Garmin Express program to update the software.
