Garmin Marine Chart Could Not Be Authenticated
If a Garmin® chartplotter displays the message Marine chart could not be authenticated, and the chart version is listed as 12.00 or higher, the chart is inauthentic and not supported by Garmin. Garmin charts created prior to version 12.00, which was released in 2011, are no longer supported regardless of authenticity.
If the card was recently purchased from a third party, it is recommended to return the map to the seller if possible. If the card was purchased directly from Garmin, contact Product Support with proof of purchase to exchange the card.
When this message appears, inauthentic charts or charts older than version 12.00 can still be accessed for a one-time, 90-day grace period. After 90 days, a message stating the grace period has ended will appear whenever the chartplotter is turned on or the card containing the chart is inserted.
Updated and authentic chart cards can be purchased from garmin.com or from authorized dealers.
