Sending a Garmin Folder from an Approach Launch Monitor to Product Support

Folder(s) requested by Product Support can be sent either by manually copying and compressing the folders before sending, or using the Garmin Express™ program to collect the folders from the device. These steps can be performed on either Windows or Mac OS. 

NOTE: Chromebooks, Linux operating systems, phones, or tablets cannot be used to send a Garmin folder.

The Garmin Express program needs to be at version 7.17.1 or later to follow these steps. See Updating the Garmin Express Application Software. If you cannot update the Garmin Express program to this version, use the manual steps below.


Using the Garmin Express Program


Windows

  1. Connect device to the computer using the charging cable.

  2. Open Garmin Express.

  3. Select the Help icon Garmin Express Question Mark in the upper right-hand corner.

  4. Select Send Reports.

  5. Enter the code provided by Garmin Product Support.

  6. Agree to the Terms of Use.

  7. Select your device from the Include device contents dropdown.

  8. Select Submit.


Mac

  1. Connect device to the computer using the charging cable.

  2. Open Garmin Express.

  3. Select Help in the menu bar.

  4. Select Garmin Express Help.

  5. Select Send Reports.

  6. Enter the code provided by Garmin Product Support.

  7. Agree to the Terms of Use.

  9. Select Submit.



Manually Copying, Compressing, and Sending the Folder(s)


Windows

  1. Connect your Approach launch monitor to the computer.

  2. Press the Windows key + E on the keyboard to open Windows Explorer/File Explorer.

  3. Select This PC (Windows 10 only).

  4. Open the Garmin drive listed.1

  5. Right-click the Garmin Folder and select Copy.

  6. Right-click on the Desktop and select Paste.

  7. Right-click the Garmin folder on the desktop.

  8. Select Send to.

  9. Select Compressed (zipped) folder.

  10. Upload the new Garmin.zip file using our secure file uploader Sending a File, Folder, Photo or Video to Garmin Product Support.

  11. Send an email reply back to Product Support to verify we received the files since an automated message is not sent. 


1 If your device is not detected by the computer as a drive, it may be necessary to install Garmin Express™ software.


Mac

  1. Connect your Approach launch monitor to the computer.
    NOTE: The Garmin Approach® R50 launch monitor uses MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) mode when connected to a computer. This means that Mac computers will not recognize this device as a drive and you will need to use Garmin Express on your Mac to be able to send the Garmin Folder.

  2. Open Finder.

  3. Select Go in the menu bar at the top of the screen.

  4. Select Computer.

  5. Open the Garmin drive.1

  6. Garmin Drive Location in Finder

  7. CTRL + Click on the Garmin folder.

  8. Select Copy "Garmin".

  9. CTRL + click on the Desktop and click Paste item.
    NOTE: For watches with preloaded maps, remove the map files from the Garmin folder on the desktop:

    1. Double-click the new Garmin folder on the Desktop.

    2. Drag all Disk Image Files (.img files) to the Trash.

    3. Drag the Map folder to the Trash if present.

    4. Close the Garmin folder window.

  10. CTRL + click the Garmin folder on the desktop.

  11. Select Compress "Garmin".

  12. Upload the new Garmin.zip file using our secure file uploader Sending a File, Folder, Photo or Video to Garmin Product Support.

  13. Send an email reply back to Product Support to verify we received the files since an automated message is not sent.
