Transferring Inspection Files Using Bluetooth with the Garmin eLog App

An inspector may require the transfer of your record of duty status from the Garmin eLog ELD.  These files will transfer in .csv format.  See the instructions below for steps to transfer the inspection files over Bluetooth.

iOS

Inspector's Phone:

1. Go into the phone's Settings menu, and turn on Personal Hotspot

Your Garmin eLog App:

2. Open the Garmin eLog app

3. Sign in to your driver profile 

 

4. Touch Inspection

 

5. Touch Send Report

    • Review data for accuracy prior to sending the report.

 

6. Touch Yes

 

7. Enter an annotation if necessary

    • Any key phrase or code provided by the DOT officer during the inspection should be entered here
      • Special characters and spaces are not permitted and there is a maximum of 60 characters

 

8. Change the date range if necessary

 

9. Touch Bluetooth

 

10. Touch Enable Pairing Mode

 

 

Inspector's Phone:

11. Navigate to the phone's Bluetooth settings menu, and turn Bluetooth on

12. Touch the Garmin eLog when it appears

13. Verify the pairing code, then touch Pair or OK

 

Your Garmin eLog App:

14. The eLog app should begin connecting to the FMCSA Web Services

 

15. The eLog app will send the inspection report

 

16. A confirmation will appear with a unique submission ID. Touch OK. The report has been sent.

 


Android

Inspector's Phone:
