Pairing Instructions for a Speed/Cadence Sensor with an Outdoor Handheld GPS Device

Outdoor handhelds with ANT+® connectivity can be paired with speed and cadence sensors for cycling. When paired, a speed sensor overrides speed data derived from GPS while a cadence sensor provides pedal revolution data to the handheld. Speed and cadence data can be displayed on the handheld as data fields.

Speed and Cadence Sensor Compatibility with Outdoor Handheld

Tips for Using an Outdoor Handheld for Cycling

Outdoor handhelds designed for hiking may not be as well-suited for cycling as a dedicated cycling product like an Edge-series device. However, the following suggestions will bring more cycling functionality to an outdoor device.

Add Routable Maps

If turn-by-turn directions are desired while cycling, a routable map should be added to the device if one did not come preloaded.
