Red Light and Speed Camera Data for Dash Cams and Automotive Devices

Some of Garmin’s automotive devices support Red Light and Speed Camera data. This allows a device to provide an alert when driving toward any type of fixed traffic enforcement camera. A subscription for this downloadable data is an optional add-on.

Garmin’s Red Light and Speed Camera products are divided into regions. These may be purchased as a yearly subscription. A free 30-day trial may also be available for certain regions.

The following devices come pre-loaded with a trial covering its home region, e.g. North American versions of the Garmin Dash Cam™ 35 will come with a trial of the US & Canada service.

The following devices come pre-loaded with subscription-free updates covering its home region, e.g. Europe, via the Garmin Express™ software or the Garmin Drive™ app.

The North American Garmin Dash Cam Tandem is not compatible with Red Light and Speed Camera subscriptions. The European version comes pre-loaded with subscription-free updates via Garmin Express.

A Red Light and Speed Camera subscription must be purchased for updated camera locations or camera coverage in additional countries. See the steps below to Determine Compatibility and Download a Free Trial or Download a Subscription:

NOTE: It is not possible to install a free trial for more than one region, as each device is limited to a single 30-day trial. To activate a previously acquired one-time 30 day trial, see Activating a Free Red Light and Speed Camera Trial to an Automotive Device.

To Determine Compatibility and Download a Free Trial or Download a Subscription:

1. Connect your Garmin device to the computer
2. Install and open Garmin Express
3. Select the device from the list
   • If the device is not listed, select Add a Device and follow prompts to add the device to Garmin Express.
4. Select Store

5. Once in the Store menu, select your country and click Continue

6. Select Safety Cameras

7. If your device is compatible with Safety Camera subscriptions, a list of compatible regions will appear

• • To make a purchase, select the desired subscription, click the price button, and continue to the following steps.
  • If installing a free 30-day trial, select the trial option, then click Install.

8. If purchasing a subscription, sign in to your account and complete the purchase process

• • If installing a free 30-day trial, it is not necessary to sign in.

9. On the order confirmation page, click Activate

As an alternative to the US and Canada Red Light and Speed Camera region, some Garmin GPS navigators can accept Custom Points of Interest (POIs) using our free Points of Interest (POI) Loader. NOTE: The Garmin Overlander® GPS navigator is not compatible with POI Loader.
