Garmin Express Fails to Complete the "Copying Files" Stage

During the "Copying Files" stage of a content installation, Garmin Express is writing the content to the internal storage of the device or to an SD card. Device connectivity issues or hardware problems can prevent Garmin Express from installing the content. Symptoms of these issues include:

  • There was an error installing the update error message
  • There was an error installing the content error message

Resolution


Important: Ensure that you are using the latest version of Garmin Express.  To check for updates, see  Updating the Garmin Express application

  • Attach the device with a different USB cable
  • Attach the device to a different USB port on the computer
  • If the computer is a laptop, ensure the computer is connected to a power source
  • If using an SD card, try formatting the SD card or try using a different SD card if one is available
    • For instructions, go to the Support Center and enter the product name or the serial number of your device. Once your device is selected click Other and search for "Formatting a microSD/SD Memory Card"
  • Restart the computer

 These steps should resolve the issues that prevent content from installing in Garmin Express.
