Recording a Pool Swim Activity on a Garmin Watch

There are several Garmin® watches that will provide Pool Swim metrics. When recording a Pool Swim activity, intervals are created by using the Lap/Reset button to pause the activity while resting, and again to start the next interval. Metrics are gathered with the help of the accelerometer within the device. GPS is not used for this activity profile type.

NOTE: The button used to pause and rest will vary by model. Refer to your owner's manual to see what button activates this during your Pool Swim. 

Steps to Perform a Pool Swim Activity

1. Select the Pool Swim activity profile.

2. If prompted, enter your pool size.

3. Start the activity.

4. Swim an interval.

5. Press the button that initiates the Pause/Rest period.

   • While resting the screen on the watch will display a dark background with white text. While in swim mode the watch will display a white background with dark text for most watches.

6. Press the button again to resume and start a new interval.

7. Repeat steps 4-6 for subsequent intervals.

8. Press the button to stop and end the activity.

9. Save or Discard.
