Find Tab Did Not Initialize (ISO Error) in Windows Vista or Windows 7

When performing a search in DeLorme® software, you may receive an error message that states, "Find Tab Did Not Initialize (ISO Error)."

This error can be the result of several issues:







The scenarios below are listed in order of probability. Start with the first scenario, try the program again, then move to the next scenario.

Corrupt ODBC Drivers

Use the instructions below to reinstall the Jet40sp3 data access drivers.

  1. Download Jet40sp3 from within the link below.
    http://files.delorme.com/support/patch/jet40sp3_comp.zip

  2. Click Open on the File Download window.


  3. You may receive a security warning ...Choose to allow the file to be opened.

  4. Click Extract all files.

  5. In the Extract Compressed (Zipped) Folders window note the location of the extracted file.

  6. Leave the Show extracted files when complete check box selected.

  7. Click Extract.


  8. A new window should open showing the file. Right-click jet40sp3_comp and select Properties.

  9. Click the Compatibility tab and select the Run this program in compatibility mode for: check box.

  10. Select Windows XP (Service Pack 2) from the drop-down list.

  11. Click Apply and then OK.


  12. Double-click jet40sp3_comp.

  13. If asked, input your username and password and click OK.

  14. A copying files window will display.


  15. After the file copy completes, try the application again.

Incorrect System Date

Verify the system time and date are correct.

  1. Click the Windows clock in the bottom right of the PC desktop. 


  2. Verify the date and time are correct.

  3. If not, choose Change date and time settings... 

  4. In the Date and Time window, click the Change date and time... button. 


  5. If asked, input your username and password and click OK.


  6. Correct the date and time and click OK


  7. Test the application.

A Non-English Version of Windows

Use the instructions below to verify or change to the English version of Windows.

  1. Open the Windows Start Menu and choose Control Panel


  2. Within the Control Panel, choose Classic View and open Regional and Language Options


  3. Within the Regional and Language Options window, verify the current format is English (United States), and, if not, change it to English (United States)


  4. Click the Administrative tab and verify the Current language for non-Unicode programs: is set to English (United States)


  5. If it is click OK and retry application. If not, click Change System locale... 

  6. If asked, input your username and password and click OK.


  7. In the Regional and Language Settings window change the locale to English (United States) and click OK


  8. If you receive a message of "You must restart Windows for the changes to take effect", click Restart now


  9. On restart, test the application.
