Dog Tracking and Customizing the Map on the Tread® XL GPS Navigator

The map on the Tread® GPS navigator can be customized for you to view the tracked dog devices with ease. 

Customizing Your Icons

  1. Select App
  2. Select Adventure
  3. Select Dog Tracker
  4. Select Wrench

You will have various options to choose from. 



Changing the Map View

You have the option to view the map in 2D or 3D view 

  1. SelectNorth Pointing Arrow
  2. Choose between
    • Track Up (2D), to display the map with your direction of travel at the top.
    • North Up (2D) to display the map with North at the top.
    • 3D, to display the map in three dimensions, with your direction of travel at the top.
  3. The map view is now changed.

Map View Differences

There are various differences when viewing the 2D map view and the 3D map view depending on your zoom level. Comparison examples are shown below:

50ft Zoom 

The images below are both set to 50ft with the icon and label size set to large. The 2D view is set to 'Track Up' to match how the 3D view functions.
 
  • 2D View, the dog is hidden behind the car, that the map is much more flat looking.
  • 3D View, the dog is much larger and the car is smaller.

1/2 Mile Zoom Level

The images below are both set to 1/2 mile with the icon and label size set to large. The 2D view is set to 'Track Up' to match how the 3D view functions.
   
  • 2D View, the dog is hidden behind the car, that the map is much more flat looking.
  • 3D View, the dog is much larger and the car is smaller. The map also looks different. 

Viewing Your Waypoints

NOTE: Astro® and Alpha® 100 dog tracking handhelds are not compatible with the Garmin Explore™ app, you will not be able to view your waypoints on the Tread® navigator.

  1. Select Map Layers

  2. Select Collections

     
     
  3. Select the Collection you wish to see on the map

    Select Collections 
      
  4. Select Done
