Using the inReach Remote Widget on Garmin Watches

Many Garmin watches can control paired inReach® satellite communication devices by using the inReach Remote widget. Some watches will already have the inReach Remote widget enabled by default while others will only show the widget as enabled after an inReach device has been paired.

Even though both devices need to be in close proximity (10ft) to each other, it can be helpful to strap your inReach device on your pack or person, and then use your watch for messaging, SOS, etc.

This article walks you through the process of getting these devices paired together.

Checking Compatibility

To determine if your Garmin watch can use the inReach Remote widget, see - Garmin Products That Support the inReach Remote Feature.

Updating Software

Ensure that both devices have their latest software version installed. Most devices can be updated using the Garmin Express™ program. For detailed instructions, see - Help with Product Updates

Connecting and Enabling the inReach Remote Widget

  1. Power on the inReach and enable ANT+ or inReach Remote. Select your inReach device below for steps:

  2. On the watch, hold UP/MENU (middle left button).

  3. Select or scroll to Settings.

  4. Select Sensors & Accessories or Connectivity > Sensors & Accessories.

  5. Select Add New.

  6. Select inReach.

The watch will begin searching for and connecting to the inReach device. This can take up to 60 seconds.

  7. Select inReach - (device number) once it appears on the watch.

Once connected, the inReach Remote widget should be enabled automatically. If it is not, refer to "Customizing the Widget/Glance Loop" in your watch's owner's manual for instructions to add it.

From the watch face, scroll to the inReach Remote widget to see your messages. While viewing the inReach Remote widget, select START/STOP to access the menu for SOS, Messages, or Tracking.
