Using a Rino Handheld Radio Outside the United States, Canada and Australia
The Rino® 2-way radio is a combination of a GPS receiver and a FRS/GMRS or UHF radio system. GPS signals can be received anywhere in the world. The other half of the system transmits a radio frequency and is only certified for use in the United States, Canada or Australia.
Each country has a specific version of the Rino that has been approved for use within that country:
The Canadian version of the Rino series handheld is limited to a wattage output of 2 watts.
The United States version can transmit up to 5 watts using the GMRS frequencies, but use of the GMRS frequencies requires a permit through the FCC. Operation on the GMRS frequencies is subject to rules as specified in 47 C.F.R. Part 95. In order to transmit on GMRS frequencies, you are required to obtain a license from the FCC.

No license is required to operate on GMRS channels in Canada; however, GMRS repeater channels are not approved for use by the Canadian government. GMRS repeater locations in the US can be determined with an internet search.
For use in countries outside of the United States and Canada, check with that government for any restrictions of GMRS use..
The Australian version can transmit up to 5 watts utilizing UHF frequencies; for details concerning usage of device within Australia consult ACMA.
