GPS Module Replacement for the T 5 Mini Dog Device and TT 15 Mini Dog Collar

This content provides detailed information on the VHF antenna repair of your T 5 Mini Dog Device or TT™ 15 Mini Dog Collar.

Tools Needed

  • T-6 screwdriver

  • PH1 Phillips-head screwdriver

  • Small sized needle nose pliers or tweezers

  • Sharp blade

  • Small multi-purpose soft tipped brush

  • Cotton tipped swap

  • Isopropyl alcohol

Parts Needed

You will need to contact Garmin Product Support to purchase the following parts.

  • Replacement GPS Module Replacement Kit
    • T 5 Mini part #: S00-01389-10
    • TT 15 Mini part #: S00-01390-10
  • RTV clear silicone adhesive/sealant (this can be purchased from a local or online store.)

Step 1 Clean Device

Use a small brush mild liquid dish soap to clean the exterior of the device. Ensure that the device is clean and dry before proceeding to step 2.


Step 2 Remove Protective Cover

  1. Using the T-6 screwdriver, remove the 4 screws from the L-shaped clamp plate protecting the VHF antenna.
    NOTE!: The highlighted section in the image below is the location for the short screw.

  2. Remove the clamp plate from the device and set screws and plate aside.  Note that one screw is shorter than the others.

Step 3 Remove VHF Antenna

  1. Use the PH1 Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screw securing the VHF Antenna and set aside.

  2. Remove the antenna by carefully pulling it through the antenna guide.

  3. Remove the GPS module screw.

Step 4 Remove GPS Module Assembly

    1. Using a small set of sharp needle-nose pliers, loosen and remove the sealant covering the antenna connection.

    2. With the sealant removed, gentle unplug the GPS module connector from the device.
    3. Clean any residual sealant left over from the device.  You can use alcohol and a cotton tipped swap or soft bristled brush to assist with the cleaning

Step 5 Install Replacement GPS Module

  1. Carefully mount the replacement GPS assembly by pressing the connector into place.

  2. Once the connector is mounted, replace the screw that secures the assembly to the device. Refer to step 3.3 for the placement of this screw.
  3. Cover the GPS module connector with RTV sealant ensuring that it looks like the image below.

Step 4 Reinstall VHF Antenna

  1. Use both of your hands to align and secure the antenna guide, pushing the replacement antenna back through the guide holes. This may require some moderate force to push the antenna through each guide hole.Installing VHF antenna through antenna guide.

  2. Secure the antenna to the device with the antenna screw using the PH1 Phillips-head screwdriver.
    NOTE: The antenna should orientate so that it fits flush into the antenna channel. This will result in the ring terminal being flush with the threaded opening where the antenna screw is inserted.Back of dog device with arrow pointing to VHF screw.

Step 5 Install and Secure Clamp Plate

  1. Using the T-6 screwdriver, install the short screw in the marked hole below.

  2. Install the remaining screws.

 This completes the GPS antenna replacement. Check operation to confirm the antenna is in working order.
