Suspending an inReach Subscription Service Plan
When using an inReach® Freedom subscription plan,1 there may be times when service for the device is not needed. In these instances, the subscription can be suspended while a Cell or Wi-Fi connection is available. If this is your first time suspending an inReach Freedom subscription plan we recommend reviewing Frequently Asked Questions on Suspending inReach Service before following the steps below.
Suspending inReach Service Using the Garmin Messenger™ App
NOTE: The following process only works with Garmin Messenger app compatible devices. If these steps are unavailable in the Garmin Messenger app, ensure the app is up to date.
Open the Garmin Messenger app.
Select Device.
If Device is not displayed at the bottom of the app, you will need to pair your inReach.
Select your current plan type below the picture of your inReach device.
Select Change Plan.
Under OLD PLANS, select SUSPEND SERVICE.
Check the box to confirm plan change, then select SUSPEND SERVICE.
Select CONTINUE after reviewing the details about your next bill.
A confirmation email of the suspension will be sent to the account email.
Suspending inReach Service Using the Earthmate® App
NOTE: The following process only works with Earthmate Compatible inReach Devices. As of September 18, 2024, your inReach subscription can be managed in the Earthmate® app to suspend your subscription. To use this function make sure the Earthmate app is up to date, for steps see - Updating the Earthmate Application.
Open the Earthmate app.
Select (Android™) or More (iPhone®/iPad®).
Select My inReach.
Select Manage Subscription.
Select Change Plan.
Under OLD PLANS, select SUSPEND SERVICE.
Check the box to confirm plan change, then select SUSPEND SERVICE.
Select CONTINUE after reviewing the details about your next bill.
A confirmation email of the suspension will be sent to the account email.
Suspending inReach Service Using the Garmin Website
When signed into your account at Garmin.com, the Subscription Portal can also be accessed by selecting in the top right corner of the page, then Account. From there select SUBSCRIPTIONS & SERVICE PLANS on the left of the page.
Select MANAGE on the Freedom subscription you want to update.
Select CHANGE PLAN.
Under OLD PLANS, select SUSPEND SERVICE.
Check the box to confirm the plan change, then select SUSPEND SERVICE.
Select CONTINUE after reviewing the details about your next bill.
A confirmation email of the suspension will be sent to the account email.
1As of September 18th, 2024, inReach Freedom subscription plans are no longer available for new inReach activations. Existing customers with inReach Freedom subscription plans will still be able to suspend and reactivate their service until their next annual renewal date unless they change to a different plan.
