Viewing inReach to inReach Message Locations in the Earthmate App

To view inReach® to inReach handheld message locations on the map of the Earthmate® app, the following requirements must be met.

inReach to inReach handheld message locations can also be viewed on most inReach devices.¹

IMPORTANT: The inReach device must have an active subscription (see - ) and be paired to the Earthmate app. For pairing steps, see Related.

Requirements for Message Locations

Both Include Location and Show Messages must be enabled in the Earthmate app and messages must be sent to the user's inReach address.

Including Location With Messages

The Include Location setting described below will only affect brand new message threads. When replying to a previous message, make sure to check if location is enabled  or disabled  for that specific message thread.

1. Open the Earthmate app.

2. Select  (Android™) or More (iPhone®/iPad®).

3. Select Settings (Android) or Options (iPhone/iPad).

4. Select Messages.

5. Enable Include Location.

1. Open the Earthmate app.

2. Select  (Android™) or More (iPhone®/iPad®).

3. Select Settings (Android) or Options (iPhone/iPad).

4. Select Map.

5. Enable Show Messages.

Finding Your inReach Address

Each inReach user account is assigned an inReach address (example@inreach.garmin.com) at the moment the account is created. The inReach address only works for inReach-to-inReach communication. Messages sent to an inReach address from devices other than inReach devices will not be delivered.

To obtain the inReach address:

1. Log in to the inReach account at explore.garmin.com.

2. Select Account.

3. The inReach address can be found in the My Info section in the left-hand column.

The inReach address can also be found in the Settings menu on the inReach product under About This Device.

Viewing Message Locations

1. Open the Earthmate app.

2. Go to Messages.

   • Android: From the Map page, touch  or select  > Messages.

   • iPhone/iPad: From the Map page, select Messages.

3. Select a message thread.

4. Select a message that includes location (indicated by ).

5. Select VIEW (Android) or tap on in the map preview (iPhone/iPad).

The location of the message will be displayed on a map in Earthmate, indicated by  on the map.

¹ Message locations cannot be viewed on inReach for Smartphones. The inReach Mini and inReach SE® satellite communicators do not support detailed mapping, but can still display coordinates for message locations.
