Unable to Add a Card to the Garmin Pay Wallet

Check the following if you are encountering an error when attempting to add a card in your Garmin Pay™ contactless payment wallet.

  • Confirm the card you are entering is supported by Garmin Pay mobile payment solution. For a list of supported cards see: www.garmin.com/garminpay/banks.

    • Some cards from participating banks might not be supported by Garmin Pay mobile payment solution; contact your bank for more information.

  • Confirm that you are entering the information from your card correctly.

  • Confirm your mobile device is connected to either cellular or Wi-Fi network.

  • Confirm your mobile device is set to update date and time automatically. 

  • Confirm your phone, Garmin Connect™ app, and watch are up-to-date.

  • Confirm you meet Garmin Connect App Minimum Device Software Requirements).

  • If you receive the message, There was an error retrieving the user verification methods, the card issuing bank may need to manually activate the card. 

I’m Still Seeing an Error Message During the Setup Process

If you repeatedly encounter an error message and you are unable to add the card, you will need to reset the wallet and start again. This will erase any previously stored cards in your Garmin Pay wallet.

  1. Open the Garmin Connect™ app.

  2. Select More (bottom right).

  3. Select Garmin Devices.

  4. Select your device.

  5. Select Garmin Pay.

  6. Select Change Passcode.

  7. Select Forgot Your Passcode?

  8. Select Reset Garmin Pay.

  9. Follow on screen prompts to setup the wallet and add cards.
