Updating InReach SE+/Explorer+ Firmware Without an Active Device or Explore Account
Follow the instructions below to download and install the inReach® Sync application which will update the firmware on the inactive inReach device to the latest version.
IMPORTANT
- If you sync when you do not have an active subscription for the inReach handheld, only the firmware (device software) will be updated. An active subscription is required to sync contacts, waypoints, routes, etc., as well for using the inReach services, such as messaging. The inReach handheld must be ACTIVE for the SOS button to function.
- If the inReach device has been added to an account but is not active on a subscription plan or there is no active subscription, inReach Sync may give an error, such as 'Unknown device'. The inReach device either needs to be removed from the account, activated on a subscription plan, or put into Firmware Update Mode to continue.
