Getting Started With Outdoor Maps Plus on the GPSMAP 67 Series
With an Outdoor Maps+ annual subscription, you gain access to a wide variety of premium mapping content. This content is regularly updated and the one subscription can be activated and downloaded directly to your GPSMAP® 67 or 67i outdoor handheld or any of your registered compatible Garmin devices simultaneously via Wi-Fi. The topics below explain how to activate, download, and use the different types of mapping content that are available with Outdoor Maps+.

Purchasing Outdoor Maps+
Before you can purchase an Outdoor Maps+ annual subscription through the Garmin Explore™ app, you must first pair a device that is compatible with the Garmin Explore App. For an inReach Professional account users, see - Purchasing an Outdoor Maps+ subscription on an inReach Professional Account.
To pair a compatible Garmin device:
Open the Garmin Explore app.
Allow any app permissions when prompted.
Sign in with your Garmin account if you are not already signed in.
If you do not have an account already, create a new account.
Place your Garmin device in pairing mode.
For steps, refer to your Owner's Manual.
Select Add Device if prompted, otherwise you can select
Devices, then either + Pair a New Device or
.
The app will then begin searching for devices.
Once your Garmin device is found, select Connect It and follow the prompts to complete the setup.
Once a compatible device has been paired in the Garmin Explore app, there are a couple of places where you can purchase an Outdoor Maps+ annual subscription. When downloading new offline maps (either by selecting Offline Maps >
New Offline Map, or by selecting
Map >
> Create Offline Map), there will be an option to subscribe to Outdoor Maps+. You can also follow the steps below:
Open the Garmin Explore app.
Select the profile icon in the top left.
Select Outdoor Maps+.
Select Get Started.
NOTE: If you see Browse all compatible devices, this means that a compatible device has not yet been paired in the app.
If prompted, select the Country/Region for your billing address, then select NEXT.
Tap SELECT THIS PLAN.
Select the box to agree to automatic renewal, review the terms and conditions, then select ACCEPT & CONTINUE.
Enter your billing address, then select SAVE.
Scroll down and enter your credit card information.
Check the box to authorize use of this payment method for future account charges, then select SAVE.
Once the purchase is processing you can select CLOSE.
Once the purchase has finished processing the subscription will be active and you can proceed with downloading Outdoor Maps+ content.
Activating Outdoor Maps+
After purchasing an Outdoor Maps+ annual subscription, it needs to be activated on the GPSMAP handheld.
NOTE: You must be paired to the Garmin Explore app or the Garmin Connect app to activate your Outdoor Maps+ subscription.
Press MENU twice to access the main menu.
Select Map Manager.
NOTE: This option can also be accessed from the map page by pressing MENU, then selecting Map Setup.
Select Outdoor Maps+.
Select Check Subscription.
If prompted, select Bluetooth Setup and/or Wi-Fi Setup and follow the prompts, otherwise proceed to the next step.

Wait for the activation to complete.
Once the activation completes, you can proceed with downloading Outdoor Maps+ content to the GPSMAP handheld.

Setting Up Wi-Fi
In order to download Outdoor Maps+ content, the GPSMAP handheld must be able to connect to a Wi-Fi network. The steps below are for setting up Wi-Fi directly from the handheld, but this can also be done by using the Garmin Express™ program. Press MENU twice to access the main menu.
Select Setup.
Select Wi-Fi.
If necessary, select the toggle switch to enable Wi-Fi.
: Wi-Fi is toggled on.
: Wi-Fi is toggled off.
Select Add Network.
Select a wireless network from the list and enter the password, if prompted.
NOTE: To add a non-broadcast network, press MENU, then select Add Network and enter the network SSID and password.
The GPSMAP handheld will then attempt to connect to the Wi-Fi network. Once Network Added is displayed to indicate that it was successful, select OK.
Downloading Outdoor Maps+ Content
After activating an Outdoor Maps+ annual subscription, the following steps can be used to download content via Wi-Fi. These steps can be repeated to download multiple areas of the map.
Press MENU twice to access the main menu.
Select Map Manager.
With up-to-date device software, available storage space will be listed at the top of this page.
NOTE: This option can also be accessed from the map page by pressing MENU, then selecting Map Setup.
Select Outdoor Maps+.
Select +Add.
The GPSMAP handheld will display Requesting Map Update Data while it connects to Wi-Fi.
Select Use Map, or select a category to center the download over a specific point on the map (e.g. Cities > Olathe, Kansas > Use).
Use the available actions to select an area of the map to download:
To view different areas of the map, press
,
,
, or
.
To zoom in and out of the map, press
and
. You may need to zoom in to a scale of 3 miles or less if certain layers like Satellite or USGS quadrangle map are needed.
Press MENU, then select Map Layers to show or hide currently installed map layers.
Select Select Area.
If desired, select the Name field to edit it, Storage Location (Internal or SD card), or toggle which map layers to include in the download:
Select Download.
NOTE: If the selected area is too large to download or you receive Max zoom level exceeded, you will be prompted to adjust the area or selected layers to continue. If you receive an error that the selected maps have already been downloaded, see - Error All Selected Maps in This Area Have Already Been Downloaded to the Device.
Wait for the download to complete.
While the download is in progress, make sure to keep the GPSMAP handheld powered on and in range of the connected Wi-Fi network. Depending on the speed of the Wi-Fi network, each download may take several minutes to complete.
Enabling or Disabling Specific Outdoor Maps+ Content
From the map page, press MENU, then select Map Layers to choose which Outdoor Maps+ content should be displayed. The examples below show the Hydro layer being enabled and disabled.

Updating Outdoor Maps+ Content
Outdoor Maps+ content is regularly updated. The following steps can be used to to check for and download available updates.
Press MENU twice to access the main menu.
Select Map Manager.
NOTE: This option can also be accessed from the map page by pressing MENU, then selecting Map Setup.
Maps that can be updated will say Update Available next to them. Select the map you wish to update.
Select Edit.
Select Update.
The GPSMAP handheld will display Deleting maps from [File Name] before the update begins downloading.
Wait for the update to finish downloading.
While the download is in progress, make sure to keep the GPSMAP handheld powered on and in range of the connected Wi-Fi network. Depending on the speed of the Wi-Fi network, each download may take several minutes to complete.
Deleting Maps
If you wish to delete Outdoor Maps+ content for any reason, follow the steps below.
Press MENU twice to access the main menu.
Select Map Manager.
NOTE: This option can also be accessed from the map page by pressing MENU, then selecting Map Setup.
Select Outdoor Maps+.
Select the file you wish to delete. The map will then be displayed.
Press MENU.
Select Delete.
Select Delete when the confirmation message appears.
After completing these steps, the selected content will be removed from the GPSMAP handheld.
Managing Your Subscription
When purchasing an Outdoor Maps+ annual subscription, there is an option to enable automatic annual renewal.
