Purchasing Aviation Database Updates for an Aviation Panel Mount or Portable Device

The flyGarmin.com® website supplies aviation database updates for Garmin portable aviation devices and panel-mounted avionics. Follow the process below to purchase aviation databases. 

• Create a flyGarmin.com account by completing the steps in How to Create a flyGarmin Account.
  • Aircraft must be added to the account prior to adding devices.
  • Devices must be added to the aircraft on the account prior to purchasing databases.
  • Portable devices must be added to the account prior to purchasing databases.
• All database purchases made on flyGarmin.com are linked to the flyGarmin.com account that made the purchase.  

Adding an Aircraft to flyGarmin.com

Follow the steps below to add an Aircraft to FlyGarmin.com.

1. Navigate to fly.Garmin.com.
2. Select the icon and Sign In to an existing account or select "Create One" and follow the steps in the article above.
3. Select Devices>Device Management>Devices in the top banner.
4. Select the "Add Aircraft" button.
5. Enter the aircraft information on the "Add Your Aircraft" page. All fields on the page must be completed.
   1. Enter the aircraft registration.
   2. Enter the make/model/series from the drop down values.
   3. Enter the aircraft serial number. 
   4. Enter the year of aircraft manufacture.
   5. Provide a name for your aircraft.
6. Select the "Add Aircraft" button.
   

Adding a Panel Mount Device to an Aircraft on flyGarmin.com

Follow the steps below to add a new panel mount device to an existing aircraft.

1. Navigate to Fly.Garmin.com.
2. Select the icon and Sign In to an existing account or select "Create One" and follow the steps in the article above.
3. Select Devices>Device Management>Devices in the top banner.
4. Select the Aircraft that the device will be added to.
5. Select the "Add Device" button located on the top right-hand side of the Aircraft Details page.
6. Select the picture of the device you want to add from the list.
7. Add the system ID for each device.

8. Select the "Add Device" button.

Purchasing an Aviation Database through flyGarmin.com

1. Navigate to Fly.Garmin.com.
2. Select the icon and Sign In to an existing account or select "Create One" and follow the steps above.
3. Select Devices>Device Management>Devices in the top banner.
4. Select the Aircraft System or Portable Device for the aviation database purchase.
5. Select the "Buy Databases" button located to the right of the device name.
6. Select the areas of the map where the aircraft will operate.

7. Select the subscription level for the devices.
   1. Select "Recommendations" to see options offered based on the selected regions and equipment.
   2. Select Bundles for all databases associated with the selected devices.
   3. Select Annual Subscriptions for a calendar year of a single database.
   4. Select One-Month Coverage for a single update of a single database.
   5. Include FliteCharts, if needed.
   6. Select navigation data preference.
      1. OnePak's use Garmin Navigation data.
      2. PilotPak's use Jeppesen Navigation data.

8. Select the "Add to Cart" button.
9. Select the "Proceed to Cart" button.
10. Enter the required billing information to complete the purchase.
11. Select the Install Updates button. 

Redeeming a Database Bundle Purchase

If a bundle was purchased, follow the steps below.

1. Navigate to Fly.Garmin.com.
2. Select the icon and Sign In to an existing account or select "Create One" and follow the steps above.
3. Select Devices>Device Management>Devices in the top banner.
4. Select the aircraft the bundle was purchased under.
5. Select the "Required Action: Redeem Bundle" button to start the bundle subscription.

6. Complete the required questions that appear for each device.
7. Select the "Redeem Bundle" button to complete the redemption process.

To Purchase an Aviation Database through the Garmin Aviation Database Manager Application:

1. Open the Garmin Aviation Database Manager application.
2. Sign in to an existing account.
3. Select the "Calendar View" button found on the right-hand side of your Aircraft or Portables Dashboard

4. Select the "Buy Databases" button found in the top-right corner of the Aircraft Details or Device Details calendar page.

5. The flyGarmin.com Buy Databases page will launch in a web-browser window.
