Connecting a Yamaha Command Link to a GHP 10 to provide tach information

Garmin's GHP 10 Autopilot cannot communicate directly with a Yamaha Command Link to read the engine's tach information. The GHP 10 Autopilot will need to receive this information via NMEA 2000.

To connect the Yamaha Command Link to a NMEA 2000 network, a converter will need to be purchased. A company called Maretron sells a cable that will perform the conversion.

There are two versions of this converter cable.

  • MARE-002 (NMEA 2000 with Female Connector)
  • MARE-003 (NMEA 2000 with Male Connector)

The most common converter cable needed is the MARE-003 as it uses a Male Connector and the NMEA 2000 T-Connector it will connect to has a Female Connector.

To find out the appropriate converter cable to use, please contact Yamaha directly.
