Creating Detailed Routes for the zūmo XT in BaseCamp

The BaseCamp™ software can be used to create a detailed route that the Garmin Explore™ app will navigate. This article will guide you through the steps. 

First, Create a Track in BaseCamp and Convert it to a Route with the Steps Below:

  1. Open BaseCamp 
  2. Select a location for the saved track
  3. Select Tools
  4. Select Track
    Note: The cursor will now appear as a pencil when hovering over the map.
  5. Use the pencil to:
    • To create a straight line between points: click a point on the map, then move the cursor and click another point.

    • To draw a track with curves: left-click on your mouse on the map and drag the cursor along the path you would like to take.

  6. Repeat step 5 to add to the track
  7. Right-click to save the track. The track will now appear as a gray line on the map.
    TIP: You can also press Esc on your keyboard to save the track.

Once the track is saved, convert the track into a route by selecting the appropriate link below for your operating system.

Transfer the Route from BaseCamp

After converting the track, find the new route in Library and send it to a microSD card or export it to use with your Explore™ app. Select the preferred method below:

Access the File on Your zūmo® XT GPS Navigator

Once this is done, select the preferred method below for accessing the file on your zūmo XT:

After the data is imported, don't forget to then sync your zūmo XT so the data transfers to it: Syncing, Adding, and Deleting Explore App Data on the zūmo XT.
