Requesting Weather Forecasts With an inReach Mini

An inReach® Mini handheld user is able to request Basic, Premium, or Marine weather forecasts for viewing on the inReach handheld. This article will cover how to request weather forecasts from the inReach device only. Important Notes

• Updating a forecast may incur data charges or additional usage charges.

• For more information about Basic, Premium, and Marine weather, see - Frequently Asked Questions on Weather for inReach.

• A marine forecast will be included for locations on an ocean or other large body of water, if available. If you are unable to get a marine forecast, select a location further from shore.

Setting the Weather Location

1. Scroll to the Weather page and press OK.

2. Select Change Location.

3. Select an option:

   • New Location: Prompts you to select a waypoint from a list of saved waypoints on the device or create a new waypoint.

   • My Location: Sets the weather forecast to your current location.

   • Select one of the weather forecasts you have used previously (if applicable).

Requesting a Weather Forecast

1. Scroll to the Weather page and press OK.

2. Select Update.

3. Select Basic, Premium, Marine Basic, or Marine Premium for the forecast type.

The inReach will then send a request for the forecast. It can take several minutes to receive the weather forecast data. Ensure you have a clear view of the sky. Once the inReach receives the forecast, you can view the forecast at any time until all the information in the forecast has expired. The forecast can also be updated at any time.

I Cannot See the Time Due to the Weather Icon. How Do I Show the Time?

After requesting a weather forecast, the weather conditions icon for your current location replaces the time on the main screen of the inReach Mini. 

• To view the time on the main screen again, you will need to change the location of the weather forecast:

  1. Scroll up to the Weather page.

  2. Press OK.

  3. Select Change Location.

  4. Select New Location.

  5. Select a saved waypoint (if available), or select New Waypoint.

     NOTE: If selecting New Waypoint, it will have your current GPS coordinates by default, which will need to be changed:

     1. Select Edit Coordinates to change the the location of the new waypoint.

     2. After editing the coordinates, select Done.

     3. Select the new waypoint.

• To retrieve the previous forecast:

  1. Scroll up to the Weather page.

  2. Press OK.

  3. Select Previous Location.
